2022 Lexus IS500 F Sport receives a 5.0-liter V8

Lexus has finally revealed the secret V8 car it has I worked at. This time it is not called IS F, although. Also new for 2022, it is now called the IS 500 F Sport.

I have a problem with this name that I will get to shortly. But if the specifications are believable, he will certainly be an interpreter.

This fall, the IS500 does not use turbines or overloaders like other car manufacturers. Everything is natural at Lexus. Its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 produces 472 horsepower and 395 horsepower lb-ft of couple. Note that this is the same V8 that sees the debt in the RC F and LC cups.

This power is directed to the rear wheels by the sameautomatic speed found in basic IS models. Don’t worry, though, it’s been tuned for performance. Lexus requires a time of 0-60 of 4.5 seconds. It will get 24 mpg on the highway.

The changes below go a little too farothers, SHARE with IS350 F Sport components as a limited-sliding differential and adaptive shock absorbers. These are combined with a standard dynamic handling package that should make this funn winding roads. It’s weird, but you’d think Lexus would have put more effort into the engineering model –specific performance for the IS500 instead of sharing them with a more basic model. The only parts that improve performance which seem to be exclusively for the IS500 are its larger brakes (14 inches front, 12.7 inches rear) and 19-inch Enkei’s wheels. Lexus says these wheels are lighter than those on the 350 F Sport.

It will be easy to differentiate between an IS500 and an IS350 on the outside. Convex bonnet, Enkei wheels, rear spoiler and the speaker are model specific. And with an acknowledgment of the past, Lexus has brought back the quad IS IS exhaust system. However, it remains to be seen if they are actually related to anything.

Interior, the differences are subtle. The IS500 receives a set of digital instruments, reinforced sports seats, aluminum pedals and a steering wheel with a small F Sport badge. No special finishes or contrasting seams or anything special. Just looking inside, you can’t really say that this is a high-performance model. There is na word about pricing yet

Although it is a welcome addition, especially if it has a V8, I have a problem with both the name and the F brand. This model solidifies that F as a standthe performance mark alone is not a thing with Lexus. F appeared as a performance response to M, AMG etc. Except that nothing worth mentioning ever came.

IS F made headlines and then disappeared, RC F is a dated performer (he wasn’t much of a performer when he made his debut) and GS F was largely forgotten. Since then, the brand has been alooks nocut for each model in the Lexus line.

This new name in IS implies this there is a standard IS500 and this model is an F Sport vversion of this model. If F is not a thing, Lexus has to come out and say it. Otherwise, this IS500 should be interesting, especially with it probably being one of the last new V8 models before heading to the future EV.
