The war between Woody Allen and Mia Farrow continues. The actress again accused the director in Allen v. Farrow, an HBO documentary that talks about the sexual abuse charge against Allen made by Dylan, Farrow’s daughter, who claims that the director raped her when she was little. In light of his release, the director and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, spoke publicly.
“These documentary producers had no interest in the truth. Instead, they spent years working in the shadows with Farrows and their collaborators to come up with a work full of fakes,” Allen and Previn said in a collected statement. of The Wrap. “They contacted Woody and Soon-Yi less than two months ago and were only given a few days to respond. Of course, they refused to do so,” the text explains.
“As we have known for decades, these allegations are categorically false. Several agencies investigated them at the time and found that no matter what Dylan Farrow might have been led to believe, there were never any abuses. “Unfortunately, it is not surprising that the network that broadcasts this is HBO, which has a permanent production contract and a business relationship with Ronan Farrow. Although this quality piece may attract attention, it does not change the facts,” he added.
The four-part documentaries directed by Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering collects court documents, interviews and home recordings conducted by Mia Farrow. The documentary focuses on the story behind all the decades of tabloid titles to uncover the private story behind one of the most public and notorious scandals in Hollywood: the accusation of sexual assault of Woody Allen, which involved Dylan, the daughter his, who was seven at the time, with Mia Farrow; his subsequent custody process, the revelation of Allen’s relationship with Farrow’s daughter, Soon-Yi; and the controversial consequences of the following years.
Celebrated by their union on and off screen, the lives of Farrow and Allen were hopelessly fractured and their families torn apart by the publication of allegations of abuse and heated disputes.
Allen, 85, has always denied the allegations of sexual abuse. which was first performed in 1992 by Mia Farrow. His then-partner, with whom he had already begun a tense separation process, accused Allen of sexually abusing their daughter. The ensuing investigation, which lasted 14 months, rejected the accusation because it could not find any conclusive evidence of these attacks.
In 2014, Dylan reiterated the accusations made by his mother over two decades later. and, in an open letter, recounted in detail the abuse he allegedly suffered from his adoptive father as a child. A story he made public again in 2018, when, after discovering cases of sexual abuse by Harvey Weinstein and other members of the film industry, the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements exploded.
In his memoirs, “About Nothing,” released last year, Allen again referred to these allegations, denied them again, referring to them as an “unfair and disgusting” campaign, and recalled that they had been investigated. and no evidence was found against her. Something that Dylan Farrow himself responded to by simply publishing these memoirs was “another example of the great privilege of power, money, and fame.”
