Popular supermarket chain Southern said it offers its employees $ 125 gift cards when they sign up and show proof of vaccination.
While more and more employers are offering similar incentives, vaccine distribution and suitability continues to vary across the country. Most of the more than 2.4 million low-paid grocery workers in the US are not yet eligible for the vaccine.
Aldi offers its hourly workers a two-hour wage for each dose of vaccine they receive. This amounts to a total of a maximum of four hours of paid leave. The supermarket chain said it would also “cover the cost of administering vaccines” for its employees who want to get vaccinated.
Dollar General
The family chain gives its employees a one-time payment equal to four hours of pay after receiving a completed vaccination.
Instacart
Instacart said it will provide some financial assistance to its store personnel and independent contractors. The food delivery company is offering a $ 25 “vaccine support fee” to vaccinated store associates and independent contractors.
Independent shoppers will have to shop in the last 30 days and deliver at least five batches to the business to qualify for the stipend.
Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s is offering its employees “2 hours extra pay per dose for taking the time to get vaccinated,” said a company spokesman.
Kroger
Kroger offers its employees a one-time payment of $ 100 if they can prove they received the full manufacturer-recommended doses of a Covid-19 vaccine. For employees who cannot get the vaccine for health or religious reasons, they can still receive payment of $ 100 if they take an educational health and safety course, the company said.
The supermarket chain said it also plans to spend an additional $ 50 million to reward its employees, including a $ 100 store credit and 1,000 fuel points for its hourly grocery, supply chain, manufacturing, pharmacy, and call center employees.
Publix
Like Kroger, Publix said it would give its employees a $ 125 Publix gift card for its employees who get the full Covid-19 vaccine.
To receive the gift card, employees must submit an internal form along with proof of vaccination. The company says its employees do not need to be vaccinated at a Publix pharmacy to receive the gift cards.
Starbucks
The coffee giant gives its employees a maximum of two hours of paid leave per dose, or a maximum of four hours of paid leave in total.
Target
Target said it will provide its more than 350,000 hourly employees with up to four hours of paid – two hours for each dose they receive – and free Lyft rides of up to $ 15 each way to get to and from their vaccine appointments.
