Apple does not intend to hold an event on Tuesday, March 16 BloombergMark Gurman confirmed on Twitter tonight.
Earlier this week, a report on the Taiwanese website Daily economic news suggested that an event will take place on March 16, with the rumor initially taken over and broadcast by several other sites. Daily economic news quoted unverified and unfounded content from the LeaksApplePro and FrontTron Twitter accounts, none of which have experience providing accurate details about Apple’s plans.
The March 16 meeting was nothing more than an assumption based on previous events at Apple, but it still gained traction. In a tweet that responds to MacRumors Editor Joe Rossignol’s comment on a possible March event, Gurman confirmed that the March 16 date is incorrect.
In a separate tweet, he said that “the launch is not on the 16th”, which leaves open the possibility of a March event at another time.
Apple is working on several products that were rumored in the first half of 2021, including a refreshed iMac, new iPad Pro models, an updated iPad mini, a new low-cost AirPod, refurbished AirPods Pro and AirPods 3, plus we’re still waiting the debut of AirTags.
Some of these products may indeed be introduced at a spring event, but there is no known date for that event yet. Apple organizes events in March for most years, but it is not guaranteed. The spring events took place on March 9 (2015), March 21 (2016), March 27 (2018) and March 25 (2019), with no events taking place in March 2017 or March 2020.
