The 2020 season of Major League Soccer also left a sour taste in the mouth for Jonathan dos Santos. The Mexican midfielder saw Galaxy fail in his attempt to reach the playoffs and, together with the wrong collective step, an injury left him on a large part of the calendar, interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The storm clouds of 2020 made the word “reitro” come to Jonathan’s mind.
“Yes, the truth is, yes,” Dos Santos told ESPN’s “Now or Never,” expressly asking if he had considered leaving professional football.
“It was one of the worst injuries I have had in my entire career, more than the knee injury, because with this injury I never knew when I would feel 100%; it’s an injury that can make you uncomfortable for a year or two, depending on your body, and I had a really bad time last year.
“Besides, I wasn’t with my family, I didn’t play for a while, when I returned to the game I felt discomfort, I played and I trained with a lot of discomfort, I wasn’t one hundred percent, I said it, it was one of the most complicated years of my entire career ”.
