Aaron Boone from the New York Yankees talked to Domingo German about the deleted post on Instagram

TAMPA, Florida – New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he had a conversation with Domingo German about his cryptic post on Instagram the day he returned to the team following the suspension of domestic violence.

“It’s all over,” the German wrote in Spanish on Wednesday.

German deleted his posts, then wrote: “I’m ready” in Spanish.

“We’re definitely paying attention to those things,” Boone said Thursday. “When I first heard about it last night and saw it and it was brought to my attention, I was a little amazed and immediately worried, but I feel a little out of context, a little exaggerated.

“And I’m comfortable that he’s doing well and he’s doing well and I’m ready to compete. But it’s something we’re going to look forward to and, in the best way, we can try to make sure he’s in a good place. But we had the conversation about trying to be as smart and pretentious as possible about some of the things we express publicly.

The German was 18-4 years old with an ERA of 4.03 in 2019, when he was put on administrative leave on September 19, while the Major League Baseball investigated an alleged incident of domestic violence involving his girlfriend, with who has at least one child. He missed the last nine games of the 2019 regular season and all nine post-season games in New York.

He was suspended for 81 games on January 2 last year, a ban that still had 63 games. He missed the entire 2020 season and the playoffs.

Zack Britton, the Yankees exempt, would not say whether the German should talk to his teammates about what happened.

“This is a difficult question. I don’t think he owes me anything,” Britton said. “I think he has to take care of things off the field. I think sometimes you don’t get to control who your teammates are. I mean, that’s the situation. I don’t agree with what he did. I don’t think he has a place in the game or off the field … I think that he has to manage on his own and make better choices in the future “.
