A Dutchman went viral because he skated on a frozen canal while half-empty – and dived after cracking the ice.
In a video seen almost 7 million times On Twitter, on Tuesday morning, the unidentified man was wearing only tight black shorts while slipping on the Keizersgracht canal in Amsterdam.
His legs suddenly sank under a piece of cracked ice, turning him into a flying Dutchman as he pulled forward, hitting the rest with his face.
Soon, not only the ice broke, but also those watching him, the video posted on Sunday surprising his audience hopping and laughing as he raised his head to show that he was safe.
After initially looking dizzy, the skater joked about the “face plant” – and bowed after he was finally pulled safely onto a thicker piece of ice by another skater.
A series of accidents recently prompted Prime Minister Mark Rutte to warn his nation, while acknowledging that “natural ice skating makes the hearts of many Dutch people beat faster”.
Rutte was particularly concerned about people hospitalized during the pandemic, as well as putting themselves in danger by giving up safety protocols, the NL Times reported.
“Unfortunately, all those horrible coronavirus measures apply to that ice. Not that the cold makes the virus less contagious, certainly not, “said Rutte. “So, be sensitive, keep your distance and stay home when it gets too busy. Follow all measures and, in particular, prevent hospitals from becoming even more crowded due to all types of bone fractures. ”
