Perez Hilton is guilty of spying on Spears in the past.
The gossip reporter expressed his regret for his brutal treatment of Britney Spears in the past following the release of the documentary “Framing Britney Spears”, recounting the portrayal of the pop star in the media. Social media was upset after the show showed Hilton’s actions, while the “Baby One More Time” singer was at the bottom.
“I regret much or most of what I said about Britney,” the 42-year-old media personality told Good Morning Britain on Monday. “Fortunately, fortunately, many of us are getting older and wiser.”
Twitterati recently eviscerated Hilton for his harsh coverage at the height of his gossip blog’s popularity, which included naming Spears an “inappropriate mother” after the 2007 paparazzi umbrella incident. Later in the interview, Hilton defended veteran journalist Diane Sawyer in a 2003 interview in which he grilled Spears in connection with his breakup with then-friend Justin Timberlake.
“Someone talked about briefly in this documentary, Diane Sawyer – a respected journalist, a good woman – but many people portray her as a bastard,” said Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.
He continued: “I think a lot of fans and people just want to blame this person and that person, but it’s not as simple as that. There are real mental health issues with Britney Spears. ”
The reporter added that the criticism was hypocritical, given the less compassionate reaction to the recent mental deficiencies of the rapper and former presidential candidate, Kanye West.
Hilton joins a long list of celebrities apologizing to the “Princess of Pop” for past violations amid the #FreeBritney movement on social media.
