One of the main reasons why Texas chose to break up with Tom Herman was due to giving up recruitment. The group from 2021 finished as class no. 17 in the country and second in the Big 12 rankings behind Oklahoma.
Now that head coach Steve Sarkisian has taken over, the recruitment has been instantly revitalized. The momentum began just one day after winning Sarkisian’s national championship with Alabama, when four-star receiver Armani Winfield announced his commitment on January 12th.
In his first month on the Forty Acres, Sarkisian made a total of five commitments for the 2022 class and is currently ranked 7th in the country according to 247Sports.
The coaching staff recently launched the cycle’s motto as # 22EFECT. Sarkisian is aware that this recruitment class will have a lasting effect on the foundation he is building with Longhorns.
