Goodbye from Chivas; Hernán Crespo, new coach at Sao Paulo

The Argentinian, Hernán Crespo, became this Friday the new coach of the Brazilian Sao Paulo for the next two years, as reported by the president of the entity, Julio Casares, in an appearance before the press.

“After a very technical, careful and judicious evaluation, in which we consulted various professionals, We understand that Hernán Crespo fits perfectly with what we believe for Sao Paulo. He has a winning story, he was a great player and he is a very promising coach. We will have a winning mentor and DNA from São Paulo“Casares said.

Crespo arrives in Morumbi after winning the South American Cup in 2020 with Defense and Justice. The unprecedented trophy was guaranteed with an undefeated campaign: six wins and three draws. The Argentine coach faces a new challenge in which he will lead two old acquaintances of Spanish fans: Juanfran and Dani Alves.

Crespo’s coaching career began in Italy in the lower ranks of Parma in the 2014/15 season and led the professional team in Modena in 2015. Then he returned to Argentine football to take over Banfield in 2018/19 and in Defense and Justice. (2020/21).

Hernán Crespo was one of the great Argentine strikers and among his achievements he has Copa Libertadores de América (1996) and the UEFA Cup (1998/99), beside cNational competitions in Argentina, Italy and England. The Argentinian played three World Cups and was Olympic silver in Atlanta 1996.
