Republicans on Wednesday unearthed previous cases of Democratic House impeachment executives and President Biden saying “ fight ” or “ fight like hell ” – one of the main allegations against former President Donald Trump during his Senate trial.
The Save America PAC’s ‘Trump War Room’ tweeted a ‘FLASHBACK’ screenshot of House Manager Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) Invoking the idea of a fight to overthrow the Republican efforts to defeat the late U.S. judge. Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg after blocking her, blocking death in September.
“The GOP rush to replace Justice Ginsburg is all about destroying the Affordable Care Act, women’s health care and reproductive freedom, and people’s suffrage and civil rights,” Raskin tweeted at the time.
“We have to fight hard to stop this attack on healthcare and the constitution.”
In another tweet unearthed by the Trump War Room, Raskin exclaimed in 2017, “This is our democracy – fight for it,” while ask for a probe in Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.
In a 2019 Atlantic Magazine interview, Raskin said of Trump’s presidency, “Let’s hope for the best, be prepared for the worst, and fight hard for the constitution” Trump War Room tweeted.
And a 2017 article reposted to its own website is featured Raskin says, “We must wake up every day and fight hard for liberal democracy, not just in Maryland, not just in the United States, but around the world.”
The Trump War Room also revealed a few tweets from 2017 in which House manager Ted Lieu (R-Calif.) Put a violent twist on former First Lady Michelle Obama’s famous credo: “When they go low, we go high.”
“I like that. But I like it more, ‘if they go low, we fight back’,” Lieu said in one.
House manager Joe Neguse (D-Colo.) Was also revealed to have tweeted in 2018 that he was “truly humbled to have the support of such a fearless leader as we fight to take back Congress” following his approval by the then-senator. Kamala Harris, who is now a vice president.
During Trump’s second impeachment trial, House executives repeatedly referred to Trump’s use of “fight” and “fight like hell” while addressing his supporters shortly before their riot at the US Capitol on January 6.
“President Trump used the word ‘fight’ or ‘fight’ 20 times, including the crowd it took to ‘fight terribly’ to save our democracy,” US Representative Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.) Said Wednesday afternoon.
Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee as well tweeted a screengrab of then-candidate Biden discussing how his father walked upstairs to tell the news that their family had to move from Pennsylvania to Delaware so that he could make a living.
“That’s why I’ve fought my entire career – and I will continue to fight – like hell so that no one ever has to take that walk again,” Biden tweeted in May.
In an eerie reference to the “incitement to insurgency” indictment pending against Trump, @JudiciaryGOP added, “Sedition?”
Former Trump campaign spokesman and adviser Jason Miller also joked on Twitter Wednesday night that he would say that Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) is “fighting hard to find out what to do, but I’d be impeached.”
Leahy is chairing the impeachment process as Senate president pro tempore because Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts “doesn’t want to do it,” said Senate leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
