In a statement on Twitter todayVersus Evil, the publisher of the Switch port in Pillars of Eternity, said the game will no longer receive patches because “they have reached a limit to what we can do with our updates.”
“[We] we’ve exhausted the remaining options from the original PC in terms of the limitations of the hardware we’re working with, “Versus Evil said in a statement, referring to the Nintendo Switch. As some people pointed out, Divinity similar: Original Sin 2 works very well on the console, so it is possible that something will happen to the Pillars port that we are not aware of.
Apparently, the game will be left in its current state, although it includes a lot of bugs, “such as the Ranger pet that doesn’t appear,” the editor acknowledges. The game is still at full price on the eShop, despite the 75% discount on Steam, and Versus Evil did not offer any special refunds, although the game came out on Switch in 2019.
