Former Finance Minister Donald Guerrero went to the Special Prosecutor for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA) for the second time on Monday, where he was heard for three hours in a row.
As agreed, Guerrero arrived at 3:00 pm at the headquarters of the Attorney General of the Republic, located in the Heroes’ Center in the capital.
Upon his arrival, journalists asked him about his appearance, but he limited himself to saying that “we have come to continue what we started on Friday, I have no comment at this time, when we return.”
As he left the interrogation, he reported his next subpoena, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, at 4:00 p.m.
The former Minister of Finance was accompanied by three legal representatives, who were holding large briefcases where there was allegedly documentation for his statement. The former official is asked about the amounts contained in the statement he presented of assets presented for an amount of 768 321 216 US dollars and about the management of resources during his term in the Ministry of Finance.
Although the former official reported last Friday that the investigation was limited to his wealth declaration, it turned out to be part of a larger investigation conducted by the General Prosecutor’s Office into irregularities in the exercise of their functions in the Ministry of Finance.
Prosecutor’s authorities are expected to provide more details this week about the former official’s interrogations and other ongoing investigations.
Guerrero is questioned by Yeni Berenice Reynoso, director general of the prosecution of corruption in the public prosecutor’s office, and Wilson Camacho, head of PEPCA.

The interrogation was suspended last Friday due to the commitments made by the former government official led by Danilo Medina (2016-2020).
Guerrero was finance minister during that time and is a member of the then-ruling Central Committee of the ruling Liberation Party (PLD).
He was the foreign sector coordinator of the PLD presidential candidate, Gonzalo Castillo, in the last electoral process.
From September 2020, one month after taking office, lawyer Mirian Germán Brito made it clear that the prosecution will investigate current and former officials who do not present the statement they present, who display unjustified goods or falsify data.
The prosecutor later said that anyone who is needed will be summoned for questioning.
Deputy prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso warned in an interview in September that “any complaint related to the disappearance or theft of a peso from the state will not go uninvestigated.”
Lawyer Camacho also said that it will be “on time” when the prosecutor will prosecute those who cannot justify the goods they reported to the Chamber of Accounts.
