Attorney General Miriam Germán Brito is leading an investigation into alleged corruption against former Finance Minister Donald Guerrero Ortiz and former Banco de Reservas CEO Simón Lizardo Mézquita.
This was reported on Tuesday by the Attorney General’s Office in a statement, where it indicates that Germán Brito led the interrogation of Guerrero Ortiz on Monday., investigated on charges of irregularity in his wealth declaration, criminal association, coalition of officials, embezzlement, fraud against the state, forgery in public documents and money laundering for crimes of administrative corruption.
Along with the Attorney General were Magistrates Yeni Berenice Reynoso and Wilson Camacho, responsible for the National Persecution Directorate of the Public Ministry and the Special Prosecutor for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), who also participated in the interrogation of Guerrero Ortiz.
The former finance minister was summoned for tomorrow Wednesday, while Lizardo Mézquita is due to appear before Pepca on Tuesday.
The action of the Public Ministry is based on a public complaint from the head of the General Budget Office, José Rijo Presbot, who warned about irregular payments to contractors, which took place in the last stage of the efforts of Danilo Medina (2012-2020), of about 21,000 million pesos, but the investigations are extended to other events, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported in its statement.
The aforementioned amount included 11,000 million pesos for the payment of hot asphalt concrete then contracted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) for a road paving plan.
The Public Ministry conducts an extensive investigation into all the punished acts, which includes the interrogations of various persons appointed in different cases.

The statement points out that the Persecution Directorate and Pepca have already filed, under the guidance of Deputy Prosecutors Reynoso and Camacho, allegations of administrative corruption in the Pulpo case and are preparing to deepen the case of embezzlement of public funds from the Metropolitan Bus Service (OMSA), related to the murder lawyer Yuniol Ramírez Ferreras.
