Although the 2022 Caribbean series is scheduled to take place in Santo Domingo, the city of Santiago is still a possibility to be well considered.

This was expressed by the president of the Dominican Baseball League, Vitelio Mejía, when asked about respect by Listín Diario, after the mayor of Santiago, Abel Martínez, showed his interest that it could be installed in that city.

Mejía said that a formal proposal should be made first, then several aspects will be analyzed, the hotel and accommodation capacity being the main ones, among other important possibilities.

For example, Mejía specified in connection with the accommodation that each team must be in a different hotel, the Confederate executive committee and the league presidents must be in another hotel, while the referees would also occupy a separate hotel.

“We know that in Santo Domingo there are no problems in terms of accommodation, quantity and quality, because although we are a small country, we have this capacity, because we are a small nation, but with a large influx of tourists,” he said. he. .

The meeting held a few days ago in Mazatlán by the Caribbean Baseball Confederation ratified Santo Domingo as the venue for the 2022 Caribbean Classic.

“From tomorrow (today) we will start working for this event, because our goal is to offer fans a show of magnificent quality, with a stadium that is in line with the event, with affordable prices at the ticket office, food and drinks, ”said President Lidom after speaking with Listín Diario.

He goes on to say: “We will see what the pandemic situation is like, as we will be, but we, as a League team, believe that we can do things to put together a good series in the Caribbean, despite the inconveniences we have. experienced in the past. the last few years, “Mejia said.

“I think that, with the results of the semifinals, the final and the Caribbean Series, baseball is in a wonderful moment and I am satisfied that this is happening, due to the situation that the world is currently experiencing with this pandemic case. Vitelio added.

Great protocol thing

Likewise, Mejía appreciated the behavior of the whole delegation in the sense that they were all negative when they flew to Mexico and when they returned to the Dominican Republic they did the same.

President Lidom said the tests were performed on departure to Mazatlán, when they arrived at the site, as well as during the series.

“Together with Puerto Rico, we were the only delegation that took a health team to Mexico to perform tests on the entire delegation that was in series,” he added.

Health insurance was also taken out, so that if some members tested positive, it covered hospitalization, as he should be hospitalized for at least 10 days.

“Thank you, there was no positive result,” he added.

The team was led by Dr. Laura Mora, along with Wilenny Batista, Eduardo Montaño, Cristina Saint Hilaire, and Pedro Rossi, from the National Laboratory.

“All the credit for the Eagles who made a great team for Mazatlán, a team made up of several major leagues.

I trusted Paulino Vitelio was not one of those surprised when Carlos Paulino connected the shot that gave him the step to the final, because in his portfolio he has as one of the players who always respond in situations of this nature, he mentioned Wilkin Castillo always solves
