COLUMBUS, Ohio – NHL says human error – especially the actions of an exaggerated official in official training at the Nationwide Arena – has led to a controversial goal and bizarre chain of events that followed in the Blue Jackets 6-5 loss to Carolina Sunday.
At the end of the second period, Blue Jackets caused a goal by Hurricanes striker Vincent Trocheck, believing that the game is offside. After a quick review of the game, the goalkeeper was left to fend for himself.
