On Sunday, President Luis Abinader oversaw the construction of the Guayubín Dam in Santiago Rodríguez, where he assured that the project was stopped because it had no impact on the environment and that they will now do so in accordance with the law.
“We support it, which was stopped because it started and had no impact on the environment and then, because this government complies with the law, we are now eliminating the impact on the environment and approving the environment, so that it is done in the right way” sure the agent.
He assured that the people who lived where the dam is being built will be compensated for the fact that they were removed.
“We also meet with the community, so that they have the compensation of the place, the people who lived in this area, who were affected by justice and the law, we must also answer.”
He explained that the Sabaneta aqueduct will be supplied by Santiago Rodríguez and that it will be distributed fairly.
“The water from here will be distributed correctly, between all the sectors, now the Sabaneta municipality (…) the aqueduct of Sabaneta municipality will be supplied from here, from this municipality”
He also guaranteed that 98,000 land loads would be irrigated, of which only 39,000 were “very poorly irrigated.”
