Carnival Cruise Line Status Update – Cruise Industry News

Mardi Gras Carnival

Carnival Cruise Line has so far had a lively event in 2020 and 2021.

Here are the main moves that have taken place for the Miami cruise line since the pandemic began:

Fantasy and married inspiration

In July, Carnival sold two of its older ships, Carnival Fantasy and Carnival Inspiration. While a buyer was not initially named, the two ships were scrapped a few weeks later.

At the same time, the cruise line moved two other ships, the Carnival Imagination and the Carnival Fascination into a long-term arrangement.

Both moves also meant several implementation changes, with adjustments to the home port and more. The most important change has seen the cruise line give up its itineraries in San Juan and Barbados in favor of concentrating on the US mainland vehicle markets.

Delayed brightness

Scheduled for March 2020, the $ 200 million dry dock of Victory Carnivals has been hit by the pandemic. The major repair, which included renaming the ship to Carnival Radiance, was originally scheduled to take place in Spain and last 38 days.

At that time, the worsening conditions in Europe led the work to a total suspension. After pushing back the repair a few times, Carnival plans to finish it in September. Starting in November 2021, Radiance will replace Carnival Inspiration and Carnival Imagination on the West Coast.

Broken imagination and sold fascination

After being moved into a long-term arrangement, both the carnival’s imagination and the carnival’s fascination came to be sold.

Imagination was the first to leave, leaving the fleet in September. The ship, built in 1995, went directly to Aliaga, Turkey, where it is currently being demolished.

The fascination was sold for additional services. The ship left the fleet in October and headed for an Asian start.

Mardi Gras Livrat

In December, Carnival received the new Mardi Gras from the Meyer Turku shipyard. The LNG-powered vessel joined the Finnish fleet before the US debut.

After being pushed back several times, the inaugural Mardi Gras cruise is currently scheduled for May 29 at Port Canaveral.

Return to service plans and dry docks

Carnival is currently planning to resume service on May 1, 2021. Some of the ships, however, will remain out of service due to delayed dry docks.

The additional cancellations will impact cruises in Norfolk, Tampa and New Orleans with Carnival Magic, Carnival Valor and Carnival Paradise until October 31, 2021.

Carnival Splendor, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Legend and Carnival Radiance also have different return programs, related to different reasons.
