Defense Minister Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa assured this Saturday that the number of military assets in the country’s border region has been increased to anticipate any “violent” situation that may arise in Haiti over the weekend as a result of the crisis policies that continues.
“There has been an increase in the number of troops on our border, in anticipation of some anomaly, but so far, thank goodness, everything is normal, there have been no problems. We went through a very strong area and there were no problems, ”Díaz Morfa told various media outlets.
Several protests are expected in Haiti this weekend as current President Jovenel Moise’s term “expires” tomorrow, but no new elections have yet been called.
The Minister of Defense spoke in these terms during the inauguration ceremony of the new facilities of the Rinconcito Military Detachment in Elías Piña.
