Update 2: After the delay mentioned below, the distribution of the Galarica Crown – an element necessary to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowking – is now live in Pokémon Sword and Shield for a very limited time. You can get the article by entering the code CR0WNF1NALS on the Mystery Gift screen in the game.
The code will remain valid only until 14:59 UTC UTC tomorrow, Sunday, February 7 (thanks, Serebii). It’s 6:59 am PT / 9:59 am ET / 3:59 pm CET.
Update 1: Unfortunately, Serebii reports that the finals of the tournament during which the special code was planned to be distributed have been delayed, which means that it may be a while before you can get your hands on the free Galarica crown:
Original article (come 11 December 2020 14:30 GMT): Next week, Pokémon Sword and Shield players will be able to easily get their hands on one of the most awkward items to get.
During the South Korean Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown tournament, which will be broadcast live online, a distribution code will be released that gives players a Galarica crown. This special item is the only way to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowking, so Pokédex collectors and completers will want to grab it as much as they can.
Serebii reports that the code “will only run 24 hours from the start of the event until 14:59 UTC December 20.” The codes are not locked in the region, so you will be able to get the Galarica crown no matter where you are, once the code is shared.
It is worth noting that you can get a Galarica crown in the game without using a special code, but it is one of the most time consuming. To get one, you’ll need to find no less than 15 Galarica branches – an object already relatively rare in itself – and hand them over to an NPC in the Roaring-Sea Caves of the Crown Tundra. If you are struggling to find them, this will be a great opportunity to speed up the process.
