Regio football mourns the sensitive death of Francisco Avilán Cruz, the so-called Foaly, which he will play with Striped from Monterrey in the 60s and 70s, in addition to being the technical director of La Pandilla and the same Tigers of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León.
Avilán Cruz ceased to exist on February 5 at the age of 73, as reported by the local press in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León.

Avilán had recently been hospitalized due to complications in his health after being infected with the pandemic virus.

Who was Francisco Avilán Cruz?
El Potrillo Avilán was a Mexican football player who played as a striker and winger for Rayados de Monterrey and Chivas Rayadas from Guadalajara.
He has also been selected by Mexico twice.
After retiring as a player, Avilán began his career as a technical director, directing Monterrey, who was champion for the first time in the MX League at the Mexico 86 Tournament.
In the 1990s, Avilán took over the reins of UANL Tigres, leading the cats from 1992 to 1994.
He also directed in Central America, especially in Honduras, assuming the technical direction of the Vida Sports and Social Club.
In Mexico, he returned to the bench with the disappearance of the Jaguares de Chiapas in 2008, after missing 14 years of Mexican football.
