The Mass Effect Legendary Edition will contain over 40 DLC tracks when it ships on the PlayStation 4 in May, but the Pinnacle Station expansion for the first entry won’t be on the long list. That’s because the Demiurge Studios support team put it together during the PlayStation 3 generation, and the data BioWare received at its request for the remastered collection was almost completely corrupted. The RPG developer states that he really wanted to include Pinnacle Station in his plans for the complete remastering of Mass Effect, but the situation was out of control.
In an interview with Game Informer, game director Mac Walters extended the situation. He says that because the original code was no longer properly accessible, the team would have to completely redo the DLC from scratch to be included. “It would take us almost six full months just to do this with most of the team we have. I wish we could do it. Honestly, just because this is meant to be everything the team ever created, he reunited – all the content for a single player. So, leaving everything on the floor of the cutting room, it was heartbreaking. “
Pinnacle Station was essentially a battle arena located on a top-secret Alliance space station, consisting of 13 different challenges. Containing about three hours of play, there was no story-related content. You unlock powerful weapons to be used in the main game.
It is clear then that BioWare tried hard to include Pinnacle Station in its plans, but the six-month project delay was not feasible. However, there is over 100 hours of content to experience as part of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, so it’s not the end of the world. The remastered collection will offer game upgrades, including “improved weapon targeting and balance, sound effects, better Mako controls, inputs / controls, team behavior, cover behavior and game rooms” along with 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and PS4 Pro. Load times will be even shorter, and an extended character creator will allow you to model Shepard to suit your individual needs.
