The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) has asked Argenis Contreras, the protagonist involved in the murder of the university professor of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) Yuniol RamĂrez, for a year of protective custody as a coercive measure.
A conglomerate of prosecution lawyers, led by the prosecutor of the special prosecutor for the prosecution of administrative corruption (Pepca) Mirna Ortiz, filed a request for a restraint with the fourth investigating judge of the national district.
Ortiz explained that the insurgency case against Argenis was also asked to be dropped to make way for the knowledge of the coercive measure, as enshrined in the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Kenya Romero, Interim Judge of the 4th National District Investigation Court, will be charged with hearing the rebellion against Argenis and will initiate the preliminary hearing to hear the degree of coercion.
The PGR representative explained that charges of murder, criminal association, body concealment and administrative corruption weigh against Argenis and that her case is being sent to legal process.
Ortiz added that the file containing the others involved in the murder will be thoroughly dealt with.
