Thanks to the governments of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, the Ferries del Caribe company resumed passenger travel from February 1, 2021.
After being prevented from transporting passengers between both destinations for 11 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, today with all health inspections and all navigation permits, the company claims to be ready to receive its passengers.

“There is a real need in the market to keep these services available between the two countries, especially for the frequent travelers,” said Néstor González, president of Ferries del Caribe. “It’s amazing how the cost of airline tickets went up once our service was interrupted,” he added.
Passengers will be able to travel with their vehicle, with unlimited luggage, in cabins and will be able to use the restaurants and bars on board, making sure to comply with the limitations of physical distance and the number of people in the different areas of the boat. “It is a great pleasure for us at Ferries del Caribe to return and offer this service that contributes so much to our customers and to the economic development of both countries. Our main focus will be to provide excellent service to all our passengers on every journey, which in turn results in economic benefits for the customer and for the destinations of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, ”said González.
The company thanked the various entities and government officials who supported them in starting their operations, and recognized the importance and necessity of our method of transportation between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. They directly thanked Governor Pedro Pierluisi and the president of the neighboring country, Luis Abinader, as well as other officials from both administrations.
Of the implemented measures, every passenger is required, before entering the territory of the United States, to pass a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigens), which is performed less than 72 hours after arrival. This proof must be provided before boarding and if the result is positive or if the proof is not available, the service cannot be provided. In addition, under Law 81 of 1912 Section 81, and under Executive Order 2020-052, the Puerto Rico Department of Health requires any person traveling to Puerto Rico to complete the form before disembarking COVID-19 Traveler’s Warning Statement and you must upload proof of a negative test when completing the declaration.
