The globes are usually the first major show of the Hollywood Awards season, which ends with the coronation of the best image winner at the Oscars. They will keep this distinction, despite the fact that they are almost two months late, after an increase in virus cases in recent months pushed the Grammy Awards in March.
Strange and largely virtual awards season in Hollywood she misses the usual kind of glamor and red carpet that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association celebrates annually. More than any other awards show, the Globes depend on a parade of stars – something that will not materialize when the awards are handed out on February 28 in a ceremony hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association said Tuesday that the Globes – usually a dinner party with drinks – will be held for the first time on the coast. Fey will host live from the Rainbow Room in New York, and Poehler will host the regular awards house, the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Nominees are expected to appear from locations around the world.
This year’s globes have been postponed by almost two months due to the pandemic and to accommodate the late Oscars. These are set for April 25. Last year’s Golden Globes culminated with awards for “1917” and “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.” The television, hosted by Ricky Gervais, could not remove the general rating trend for awards shows, attracting an average of 18.3 million viewers, down 2% from the previous year.
