It’s slippery with an umbrella.
An inventive Canadian skater amazed social media users after using an umbrella to glide on the ice like Mary Poppins.
“It turned out to be a good idea, because we could really cover the lake fast,” said Devin Jenson about his bold ice cap. The stuntman designed the “very fun” mode of transportation while playing hockey with friends on Lake Three Valley near Revelstoke, British Columbia.
“My friend Bill realized he had an umbrella in the car, so I thought we’d try to increase the speed,” he told Storyful.
In the next video, of a few minutes, Jenson can be seen on skates with his umbrella stretched out like his beloved Disney character, while the wind pulls him over the ice through his makeshift parasail. The comic ends with the subzero windsurfer flashing his thumb up at the videographer as he passes by.
“Not only was it snowless, but it was perfectly smooth and flat, which made for an amazing afternoon,” said the daredevil, who had not seen the lake freeze like that, despite living there since 1989.
