Amazon reveals plans to build a helix-shaped office tower

Virginia. Amazon on Tuesday unveiled plans for the next phase of remodeling its Virginia headquarters, with a distinctive 350-foot-tall helical office tower that can be climbed from the outside as if climbing a mountain.

The rotary propeller building is the main attraction of the proposal, which includes several 22-story office buildings in addition to those already under construction, in the company’s attempt to make room for 25,000 new employees in the coming years in Arlington County neighborhoods. the capital of the nation on the Potomac River.

The Seattle-based company wrote on the blog that the building is designed to help people connect with nature.

The sketches show trees and a green area surrounding the outside of the building, which in addition to a propeller also looks like a Christmas tree or a snow cone.

Other less flattering comments on social networks also compared him to the excrement emoticon.

The company said it will allow the public to climb the outside of the mountain over the weekend on guided tours.

Amazon sees the building itself as an “alternative workspace” for the company, as opposed to the more traditional office space in the 22-story buildings that will surround the helix, which will be slightly taller than the other three buildings.
