Argenis Contreras, the main culprit in the death of professor and university professor Yuniol Ramírez, arrived in the Dominican Republic around 11:30 am.
The defendant has to answer for the charge of Ramírez’s death, which took place in October 2017.
Contreras came to the country with a group of deportees.
On Tuesday morning, the Chief of the Special Prosecutor for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camacho, went to the Americas International Airport (AILA) to formalize the arrest of Contreras González and notify him of the criminal charges which weighs against him.
The prosecution will place under arrest Contreras Gónzalez, who fled to the United States to evade legal proceedings for the kidnapping, murder of lawyer and college professor Yuniol Ramírez Ferreras, and for committing alleged acts. of corruption.
The international police (Interpol) has issued an arrest warrant against him since October 2017 under official letter number 2017/254847. In addition, Argenis Contreras’s wife, Heydi Carolina Peña, was involved in the murder of Ramírez; José Mercado Blanco (El Grande), Víctor Elisander Ravelo Campos (“El Herrero”) and Jorge Luis Abreu Fabián (“DJ and El Taxista”), accused of covering up Argenis Contreras and trying to destroy evidence in the case.
Former director of the Metropolitan Office of Bus Services (OMSA) Manuel Rivas and Colonel Faustino Díaz were charged in connection with the case.
On October 12, 2017, the lawyer’s body was found with a chain tied around his neck to a block in a stream in Manoguayabo, Santo Domingo Oeste. The lawyer was last seen at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) around 1 p.m. the day before.
