“Where Love Goes”, “I Will Miss You” and “The Peak of Heaven” are songs recorded in the musical memory of those who like romantic lyrics in Spanish, especially ballads. Now these three well-known titles from the repertoire of Venezuelan singer Ricardo Montaner reappear under a single single, “Tríptico al amor”, performed in duet by Puerto Rican Mel and Mexican Cristina Eustace (Objective fama, 2008).
Potpourri, produced by Luis Salazar, is part of the singers’ album, “Con las que yo grown”, being the second single in the promotion. The first was “If You’re Not”, a “modern” version of the lyrics popularized by the Menudo group, but was not heard on the island because the launch coincided with the appearance of the pandemic.
“This song (Triptych to love) was put on the shelf and then I took it out of the studio and said, ‘Until I find someone to do the song, I’m not going to do anything,'” Mel commented. preceded the invitation to Cristina Eustace, with whom he has a friendly and professional relationship in Mexico, to accompany him. “Cristina gives that different flavor to the song,” he added.
For the performer, the duet marks a return to the interpretation of pop ballads, with which he began his artistic career. His repertoire then turned to Mexican regional music, which was the dominant genre in his repertoire.
“I think we all have these songs in our bones,” he said of the titles known from Montaner’s voice. “It simply came to our notice then. I always liked to play ballads “, she said, who will soon present a new album with musical arrangements that will take her away from the traditional music of her country.
“Triptych to Love” has already been presented in Mexico and Miami, Florida. The single includes a video that captures the atmosphere and dynamics of the recording between the two performers.
After this release, Mel will have for the first time two unreleased songs, “Perdóname” and “Vuélveme a quiero”.
