A Wisconsin pharmacist who destroyed hundreds of coronavirus vaccines for fear of harming humans also told investigators he believes the Earth is flat, according to a new report.
Steven Brandenburg, 46, pleaded guilty last month to a pair of charges of “recklessly reckless handling of consumer goods for the risk of another person being in danger of death or personal injury” after what prosecutors said has broken hundreds of Modern coronavirus vaccines.
An overnight pharmacist at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wisconsin, Brandenburg told investigators he believes the Earth is flat and the sky is not real, according to The Washington Post.
The Post reported, citing court records, that Brandenburg told authorities the sky was a “shield set by the government to prevent individuals from seeing God.”
Hospital officials initially said they believed a human error had led to the removal of more than 50 ampoules of the Moderna vaccine from a freezer that kept them viable.
Prosecutors have finally ruled that Brandenburg disposed of the bottles on December 24 and 25, according to court documents.
“Brandenburg was very involved in conspiracy theories,” a law enforcement technician said.
Brandenburg’s license has been suspended, and he will return to court on February 9.
