Pacheco: Approval of border development law was meant to throw “a bucket of dirty water” at MPs

The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco Osoria, described as irresponsible the decision of the Senate of the Republic to cover the amendments of Law 28-01 on the special area of border development.

Pacheco recalled that work on this law began on January 22, 2020 and sought to extend regulations providing for tax exemptions and incentives for companies in the border area.

Unfortunately, she fell asleep. The dream of fairness in the Senate of the Republic, with the aim of some senators to be a politician with this important piece “, he criticized.

Pacheco said we need to find a way to save Law 28-01, because the last consensus that was approved was approved on December 30, 2020.

“In the last session of the Chamber of Deputies, the law was approved, but in a gesture of irresponsibility, the Senate of the Republic confiscated it last Friday, January 29 this year,” Pacheco said.

He said the Senate’s approval of Law 28-01 a month later was aimed at “throwing a bucket of dirty water” at the Chamber of Deputies, as it was usually “impossible” to convene deputies for Monday.

“It is a legal obscurity, which the senators have approved for the continuity of regulations aimed at a greater development of the border area,” said the president of the lower house.

He said that they will go to the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to intervene in the stalemate that took place with the mentioned legislation.
