Virgin Galactic is preparing for its next space flight attempt, the company announcing on Monday that it will repeat the aborted flight test from December on February 13th.

The space travel company said that one of the key objectives of the space flight tests “will be to test the repair work completed since … the on-board computer stopped igniting the rocket engine”.

“The team has since conducted an in-depth case analysis, completed the necessary corrective work and conducted extensive ground testing. The next step will be to evaluate and verify this work during a missile flight,” Virgin Galactic said in a press release. .

Virgin Galactic shares have risen up 9% in premarket trading since its previous close.

Virgin Galactic will also target each of the initial objectives of the December flight test, “including assessing the elements in the customer’s cabin, testing the live flow capacity from the spacecraft to the ground and evaluating updated horizontal stabilizers and flight controls during flight impulse, “the company said.

After the flight test, Virgin Galactic said it would “complete an extensive data analysis” to “inform the next steps in the test flight schedule.” Prior to the aborted flight in December, Virgin Galactic had expected to perform three remaining spaceflight tests before commercial flights began. The second and third space flight tests were previously planned for the first quarter of 2021.
