Kate’s confidence is the queen of video selfies: the Duchess of Cambridge’s message recorded the message for Children’s Mental Health Week jogging in rural Norfolk

It takes more than good eyelashes to get the kind of glowing complexion that the Duchess of Cambridge always displays.

So it may not be surprising that the bright Kate, who claims the health benefits of introducing fresh air into her lungs, chose the outdoor venue for her first public selfie.

The 39-year-old was filmed for a special video message to launch Children’s Mental Health Week while jogging in the countryside.

Wearing a 160-pound quilted jacket and a navy wool hat, she said: “This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is about expressing yourself – finding creative ways to share your thoughts, ideas and sentiments.

“So, whether it’s through photography, art, drama, music or poetry – it’s finding those things that make you feel good about yourself.”

Speaking without notes and looking directly at the phone during a break in her flight near the Cambridge family home in Anmer, Norfolk, the mother of three also urged parents and caregivers to take care of their own mental well-being.

“It’s an extremely difficult time for all of us, so please take care of yourself,” she said.

“Find ways to share your thoughts and feelings or find someone to talk to, because we really need to be the best versions of us for the children in our care.”

Kate usually records a video every year to support Children’s Mental Health Week – which starts tomorrow – but this was decidedly less formal and the first time she took a picture or video to be made public. .

It will be on Kensington Palace’s social networking sites today.

In a video call with her parents last week, Kate admitted that home school left her “exhausted”.
