The new PS5 and Xbox X Series stock update has only bad news

PS5 and Xbox Series X are almost impossible to find at the moment and it seems that this will not change soon. The first month of 2021 is almost over, and while GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart and many more have launched new stocks this month, it hasn’t been nearly enough to meet demand and this is partly because each supply was very limited, both with Sony and Microsoft production lines, which are fighting for parts, and because of the effect that the pandemic had on production lines last year, which still persists. According to AMD CEO Lisa Su, this will not change in 2021.

Speaking to investors during a recent earnings call, Su revealed not only that consumer demand is high, but also production, with companies competing for the same parts. As a result, AMD expects these issues to continue until at least the second half of the year.

Su doesn’t reveal many other consequences, but this confirms that the PS5 and Xbox Series X will continue to be hard to find until at least June, unless demand drops, which seems unlikely at the moment. And right now, there is no guarantee that supply will increase long before demand in the second half of the year, but AMD seems to be hoping things can change by then.

At the moment, neither Sony nor Microsoft have said much about the stock situation, especially the first one. The latter, Microsoft, has confirmed at least recently that it does not expect any changes on this front for this financial quarter.

Of course, the addition to the problem is resellers, who devour stocks before consumers can use robots that order 1,000 consoles in minutes. At the moment, the reseller market is very healthy and it’s pretty easy to find PS5 and Xbox Series X there, but of course, these consoles come with inflated prices.
