Just days after Harris County waiting lists appeared, Judge Lina Hidalgo announced that as of Thursday morning, 11 a.m., 146,000 people had registered on her waiting list website to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine. . So far, 29,000 vaccines have been administered in the county.

“We continue to work efficiently. We have to be patient. There will probably not be enough supply until the end of spring or summer for most people. But we are doing everything we can to make sure there is a fair and equitable approach. It will not be resolved overnight. “said Hidalgo.
During Thursday’s conference, Hidalgo added that the county will go through its entire supply by the end of the week, but for anyone concerned about the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Hidalgo said you should not worry.

“You will be scheduled for the second dose,” she said. “Already this week, we have done about 4,000 doses. We have a system in Harris County to keep track. We have been assured by the state and the federal government that we will continue to receive doses.”
Harris County received about 9,000 doses a week and hopes to receive 30,000 a week soon.
“We continue to demand more doses from the federal government and the state. We need supply chains to catch up,” she said.
