County launches new meeting map for vaccination | News

To make it easier for San Diegans to make an appointment to be vaccinated against the new coronavirus, the county today launched a new interactive map showing all vaccination sites.

People in Phase 1A and over 65 can now make appointments through the new English and Spanish site, which, when fully developed, will be very similar to the one used to find test sites.

The new map allows users to choose a location and connects them to the scheduling system for that site. You can access the map by visiting www.vaccinationsuperstationsd.com.

“We’re trying to make it easier for people to make an appointment and get vaccinated when it’s their turn,” said Wilma J. Wooten, MD, MPH, a county public health officer. The vaccine is safe and effective and is the best tool we have to slow down the pandemic.

From the county to the open vaccination clinic in San Marcos

Starting January 31, a new COVID-19 vaccination station will be operational on the San Marcos campus of California State University.

The new pedestrian area will vaccinate people, by appointment, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday at the Clarke Field House Sports and Center, located at 333 South Twin Oaks Valley Road in San Marcos. Free parking will be available in parking structure 1 on levels 2 and 3 and parking for people with disabilities in lot L near the sports center,

The county-run site is a collaboration between the county and CSU San Marcos, with support from staff at Palomar Health, UC San Diego Health and Tri-City Medical Center. It will provide 250 to 1,000 doses daily, depending on the availability of the vaccine, but may increase to vaccination of 5,000 people daily when more vaccine is available. Appointments are required and can be scheduled at www.vaccinationsuperstationsd.com. Appointments for this site will become available on Saturday afternoon.

In Borrego Springs this weekend, a CAL FIRE team, as part of the “Collaboration Operation”, will deliver 250 doses of COVID-19 on both Saturday and Sunday. Appointments are required.

The collaboration operation is a consortium of local fire agencies using the county vaccine. CAL FIRE and other groups will also go to other communities soon, especially to vaccinate people in nursing homes and long-term care.

All county clinics vaccinate people in phase 1A and people aged 65 and over in phase 1B and require appointments, which can be made at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com. People over the age of 75 who do not have access to a computer or the Internet can call 2-1-1 for assistance in scheduling a meeting.

San Diegans without transportation can use the metropolitan transit system to travel free to a vaccination site, showing proof of their appointment.

Vaccination schedules are filling up quickly, so county health officials are urging San Diegans to wait their turn and get vaccinated when more doses are available.

“Be patient. It’s your turn,” Wooten said.

The county plans to open two more super vaccination stations in East and North County in February.

Some doctors, pharmacists and other healthcare providers can give vaccinations to people aged 65 and over, if they have available doses.

By January 27, approximately 486,000 doses had been shipped to the region and more than 269,000 had been entered into the immunization database as being administered. More information on the distribution of vaccines can be found in the county vaccination dashboard.
