From February, travelers from the DR must take a PCR test to enter Spain

The Spanish Ministry of Health has announced that it will require a PRC test with a negative result from passengers arriving from the Dominican Republic to enter the country.

The measure enters into force on February 1, 2021, so that “all passengers flying to Spain from the Dominican Republic will need a negative PCR test”, except those under 6 years of age. The examination must be carried out 72 hours before arrival in the European country.

“This measure does not affect EU (European Union) restrictions on non-essential travel in Europe. The travel ban for tourism, family visit or stay visits of up to 90 days is maintained, both with a Schengen visa and with citizens who are normally exempt from visas in Spain “, it was indicated on the Embassy’s Twitter Spain in the Dominican Republic.

He added that in future publications laboratories in the country will inform that travelers can perform appropriate PCR tests.

Spain published a list of several countries requesting the PCR test, taking into account: the cumulative incidence of more than 150 per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, reciprocity in the requirements of diagnostic tests and “other epidemiological considerations”.

The list includes approximately 56 countries that are needed, including Mexico, Panama, Curaçao, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Cuba, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Chile, Bolivia, the United Kingdom, Monaco, Montenegro, Palestine, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, South Africa, Lebanon, among others.

Spain has more than 2.5 million cases of Covid, with 56,208 deaths. In the case of the Dominican Republic, there are 206,305; and 2,564 deaths.
