GODMOTHER performed quantum teleportation Long distance? A Internet Viable quantum, a network in which information stored in qubits is divided over long distances by entanglement, would usher in a new era of communication.
Scientists from Fermi Lab., together with partners from five institutions, they have taken a significant step towards deploying one Quantum Internet.
In an article published in PRX Quantum, the team presents for the first time a sustained teleportation demonstration. and long-distance tubes made of photons (light particles) with a fidelity of more than 90%. qubits they were teleported through a 44-kilometer-long fiber optic network, using state-of-the-art single-photon detectors, as well as ready-to-use equipment.
“We are delighted with these results,” said the scientist from Fermilab Panagiotis Spentzouris, director of the quantum science program of Fermilab and one of the co-authors of the article.
“This is a key achievement on the path to building a technology that will redefine the way we conduct global communication.”
The realization comes just months after the US Department of Energy. revealed his plan for a national quantum internet at a news conference at the University of Chicago.
quantum teleportation it is a “disembodied” transfer of quantum states from one place to another. Quantum teleportation of a qubit is accomplished by quantum entanglement, in which two or more particles are inextricably linked together. If a pair of tangled particles is split between two separate locations, regardless of the distance between them, the encoded information is teleported.
“With this demonstration we begin to lay the foundations for building a metropolitan quantum network in the Chicago area, “Spentzouris said.
