California authorities are investigating the case of a person who died hours after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine last week.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the Placer County Public Health Department were recently notified of the vaccination and death that occurred Thursday, according to a statement posted on Facebook by the sheriff’s office.
It is not clear what vaccine the person received or whether the vaccine played a role in his death.
“We have nothing to do with the vaccine,” said a spokeswoman representing the sheriff’s office and the Placer County coroner’s office, adding that an autopsy was planned. “We urge the public to remain patient with us as this investigation continues, so that we can hope for more clarity.”
Spokesmen representing the sheriff’s office, forensic and public health in Placer County said they could not provide further details about the incident.
