Pixel illustrator and artist Pat Ackerman spent the last year reimagining the entire Pokédex from Sabia Pokémon and Shield like old school sprites.
Since when the beginners of the eighth generation have been revealed, Ackerman has pixelated slowly but surely, every pocket monster found in the latest games in the series. And starting this week, he has an incredibly impressive portfolio of perfectly pixelated Pokémon to show them off.
Perhaps even more impressive is Ackerman’s dedication to making his art look as close as possible to the first generation of Pokemon games possibleYellow Pokémon specific.
“When creating them, I use the 56 x 56 canvas, which was the original size of the spirits Pokémon Red / Blue / Green / Yellow“Ackerman said Kotaku. “I also stick to the palette of Yellow. I really focus on the Pokémon position, because that defined who they really were before 3D models. I try to make them dynamic and present something unique about Pokémon. ”

The other Ackerman pixel projects stretch to the front Pokemon generations and Monster hunter, nicely capturing the constraints of the Game Boy hardware. His work can also be found in the role-playing game on the PC Monster crown.
I’ve included some of Ackerman’s favorites Sabia Pokémon and Shield sprites at the top of this story, but be sure to check out more of his work Twitter and Instagram.
