Disgaea 6: Defying Destiny, the sixth entry in the line-based tactical RPG series of Nippon Ichi, is scheduled to arrive in the West in “Summer 2021” (as exclusively Switch on this territory, no less). However, the lucky Japanese players will get their hands on it just a week when it will be released on Switch and PS4 on January 28th.
With the Japanese release date so close, stores naturally played the game before launch, and the Weekly Famitsu score dropped just before the magazine’s release. Dood, butterflies!
Ready for that? Disgaea 6 scored a respectable 33/40 following the magazine’s personalized review format – one in nine and three in eight of the four reviewers who rated the game. Review impressions were summarized as follows (thanks, Dual Shockers):
– 30 hours to delete the main story. 200 hours up to 100% game
– New features, such as automatic play and turbos, are extremely useful for post-game play
– You can grind EXP and objects without doing anything, thanks to the automatic game
– The game is perfect for both newcomers and hardcore fans
While we may have to wait a while for an English version to appear, the NIS America editor was kind enough to release a new character trailer that introduces the lead role and gives a good idea of the brand’s humor. series and about the fabulous over-the-top-ness if you’re new to the way Disgaea does things – check out the full trailer at the top of the page.
There is also a demo available for Japanese switch owners to enjoy right now with carryovers for the full version. Hopefully we’ll have a chance to try the game before launch and in the West (and anyone with a Japanese Nintendo account can download and enjoy the trial version right now, of course – though you might not get far without at least one rudimentary command of the Japanese).
Are you looking forward to Disgaea 6 in the summer? Did you like the nominal (dood-y) call in the new trailer? Tell us below, doods.
