Police arrested a man this afternoon who fled the vicinity of Moisty Skate Park, where three young men were reported last night.
Agent Edgardo Ríos told El Nuevo Día that this person of interest meets the characteristics he received from the reports during the investigation and will now be interviewed by the authorities.
This morning it was confirmed that the victims were identified as being Alexis Y. Velez Torres, Nilson D. Pérez Altagracia and Frankie J. Coss Báez. They were all 19 years old and lived in Caguas.
Similarly, this morning, authorities claimed that a homeless man was responsible for killing the young man.
Sergeant David Correa explained that the preliminary investigation shows that the man, who was not identified, lives in the facilities of the old water park and that when he saw five young people passing through the area “without saying a word”, he killed three of them.
“This is a complicated and complex scene and we are still here. It happened at 9:27 at night. It is a secluded, lonely area, where at one time there were swimming pool facilities. In total, five boys arrived who came to explore the area and discovered the incident that three of them were killed “, the sergeant explained in radio interview (WKAQ 580 AM).
Correa ruled out that the crime was related to drugs or a certain type of smuggling. He added that two young people, also between 19 and 20 years old, were injured in the middle of the events.
“These young people came to this place and went deeper every day and it seems that they found a person who used this place as a home. The person asks them what they are doing here, pulls out a gun and shoots them. “, Correa narrated.
Moisty Skate Park, a property of about 40 ropes, closed in 2013 after more than three years of operations.
