Problems with the Aston Martin Vantage factory grid? Personally, I think it looks good, but it seems that some Vantage owners are offended by this and have committed to reviewing the front view of their sleek British sports cars with market alternatives.
If you happen to drive a Vantage, now you can sleep peacefully because the company came up with a solution. Aston Martin announced last week that it offers a replacement grille called Vane, which can be mounted on existing cars in the company’s bodies. The design of the Vane grille is smoother and more traditional, with classic chrome horizontal stripes and black vertical supports that contradict the scary and cavernous jaws of the original Hunter Vantage design.
The result is a cross between what Vantage originally launched and the DB11 grid. In February 2020, the automaker announced that the Vane face will be the stock mask for the Vantage Roadster, while the Coupe will continue with the Vulcan-inspired Hunter mouth. I like the new preparation, although I think Aston was smart to leave it on the Coupe and the track-oriented AMR version, where it would feel a little too soft. Aston does not list a price for conversion; if you have to ask all this.

People will naturally compare the alternative look of Vantage with the aftermarket replacement built by a company called Revenant. The Revenant approach – a design that has a different protective cover – is strange to me because it gives the car two stacked holes of equal size. I’m not sure what to look for; I’m also not sure if I should perceive the middle mouth as a nose. It confuses me and I don’t like it.
Finally, it is strange to see that an automaker offers an alternative face to its car, even a luxury brand like Aston Martin, which does so much custom work for its customers. Companies usually stick to their weapons to the bitter end, meeting ever-increasing criticism with encouraged indignation, propelling a vicious spiral made worse by every stupid tweet. Aston Martin didn’t do that though, and that’s why I’m giving them props. Which grid do you prefer?
