I witnessed some amazing sales in recent months with Pokemon cards. In October, retired rapper Logic spent $ 226,000 on a first edition of the Charizard card and a student sold his collection of trading card games for $ 80,000 to pay for college. Not to be outdone, I now saw a rare Blastoise book that earns $ 360k.
By marking the largest amount that a single book took to the auction, you can see why when you realize the story behind it. Created by Wizards of the Coast, which originally released Pokémon TCG, this was one of two business cards used to convince Nintendo to move on with a trading card game. As a result, it commands a significantly higher value than the standard Blastoise book.
At the same time, a separate auction was held for a set of TCG books from the first edition and managed to sell for an incredible price of 408,000 USD. There is no similar story with this rare booster set, however, it was just sought after and unopened.
As for the brighter look, those of us without a hundred thousand dollars more remember that the Pokémon Company is relaunching some iconic cards as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the series. Including models from the original basic set, they will be oversized, but Fortunately not too expensive.
