Delivery delayed for nearly 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in North Texas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Delivery of nearly 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to North Texas has been delayed, according to the Texas Department of Health Services.

DSHS said in a statement:

DSHS has learned that, based on federal shipping programs, the vaccine ordered on Friday and expected to arrive today is now expected to arrive tomorrow, January 19, based on the latest information from Pfizer and our federal partners. The delay has affected 55 of the 263 providers to receive the vaccine this week. ”

Of the 55 locations affected at the state level, five are in North Texas.

Locations in North Texas include Collin County Health Care, the McKinney Fire Department, the Garland City Department of Health, Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and the Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic.

The delay means that 9,975 doses are expected to arrive a day later than planned.

It is unclear what impact, if any, delays will have on distribution, as many vendors were shut down on Monday for the MLK Jr. holiday. In cities across the state, Monday’s vaccination schedules had to be rescheduled for the end of this week and are “Conditioned on dose administration,” a San Antonio official said in a statement.
