Do you know those friends with whom you communicate entirely through TikTok gifs and links? Well, last week, my best friend sent me this:
I only played one Monster Hunter game and it was Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on 3DS. I liked it for the most part – I played with a few friends who were much more experienced than me and helped me bring down some more complicated monsters. I also had Sweet Poogie with me to do everything right with her TINY LITTLE BEE COSTUME. Honestly, how come there isn’t a game about Poogie? I only kill monsters to keep my boy in new outfits.
Again, there were outfits for me – the incredible ensembles I would make from the various monster bits I cut my prey. Despite the fact that they are not related to gender – so sometimes my friends would get great armor and I would get some awesome bikinis or sometimes I would have a laugh, and they would get, like, a teddy bear suit – the outfits were my second favorite part of the game. After Poogie, obviously.
And then I faced Gore Magala, a difficult purple wyvern-purple who I hope is in hell right now. I faced Gore Magala about five times before giving up and sold the game. I’m sorry, Poogie. I let you down.
So I wasn’t too interested in Monster Hunter Rise, constantly ignoring the last few MH games. I prefer intact wrists and fingers, thanks, and Monster Hunter isn’t exactly known to allow players to get out easier.
But Capcom continues to bring out these cute little works of art that remind me of why do such as Monster Hunter games. There is a lot of humor, sweetness and light among all the killing of the dragon and the crushing of the eggs. And yes, my wrists won’t satisfy me, especially if I choose a weapon as fictional as Insect Swords again, but I’ll just take breaks to wander around the city with Poogie.
Wait, Poogie is categorical in this, right?
