PLD formalizes the process of registration and election of the members of the central committee

The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) formalized and left open the process of registration and election of members of the central committee of that organization, and established the conduct of its internal elections.

The purple party provided the information through a document signed by Cristina Lizardo, the coordinator of the Organizing Committee of the IX Ordinary Congress José Medina Bidó. The text provides for Sunday, February 14, 2021 for the conduct of internal elections for the election of members of the central committee and Monday 15 for the proclamation of elected candidates.

In these internal elections, 110 seats will be elected at national level from among the members of the Central Committee and 190 seats at local level, which will be elected by the chairmen of the Basic Committee of the political organization, throughout the national territory, as established in the Regulations issued. to this end, the new Statutes, published this week.

Resolution no. 01-1-2021 is the first of the year of the mentioned commission and presents six topics ranging from the declaration of opening of the registration process and the election of the members of the central committee to the order of its publication in accordance with the legal and statutory provisions for its execution and corresponding purposes.

“That the Organizing Committee of the IX Medina Congress José Joaquín Bidó, constituted in the National Electoral Commission of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), under Article 66 of the Party Statute, is responsible for Regulation, Organization, Administration and Arbitration to lead the process to elect the members of the Central Committee at local and national level, under the supervision of the Central Electoral Council (JCE) ‘; It is read in the first recital of the proclamation.

The following considerations refer to the creation and role of a national electoral commission, its role in the COVID-19 pandemic and the conditions of voters limited to the chairmen of the basic commissions. The power given by Law 33-18 is also claimed for political parties, groups and movements to exercise their autonomy and full freedom as regards their statutes and guidelines for the election of their internal authorities.

The legal capacity to vote is brought in accordance with Article 75 of the Constitution of the Republic and Article 93 of Law 15-19 on the electoral regime, which deals with proclamation at the request of the Central Electoral College.

It goes on to explain the PLD’s internal election communiqué, the defining content of the Central Committee in Article 15 of the Statutes, as well as the duration of members and the composition of at least 955, in force until 2025.
