Sacha Baron Cohen wants to ban President Donald Trump from any social platform.
After Twitter, Facebook and Instagram suspended the president from those platforms following the Capitol Hill riots, the actor now hopes that YouTube will align and ban Trump’s account, as others have done.
Taking to Twitter, the 49-year-old actor urged Alphabet officials, namely YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, to suspend Trump’s account from their video sharing platform, and to do the “right thing” for American democracy.
“Virtually every social media company has eliminated Trump … EXCEPT for YouTube. Trump’s YouTube channel still shows videos with his election lies to millions of people! Retweet and tell @Google, @sundapichai, @YouTube, @SusanWojcicki – do the right thing #BanTrumpSaveDemocracy ”, Cohen wrote on Twitter.
In another tweet, the “Borat” star called YouTube the new “Trump TV” and criticized the companies that broadcast video ads that would have incited the riots to assault the Chapter.
“YouTube is the new Trump TV. Trump’s YouTube channel shows 4,000 Trump videos, including “stop the theft” and calls for “fight!” Corporate America – WHY do you run your ads on You Tube Trump TV ?! RT to say @Google, @YouTube, @SusanWojcicki. #BanTrumpSaveDemocracy ”, Cohen posted on Twitter.
In addition to Cohen, actress Amy Schumer sprawling the tech giants because they took no action on Trump’s behalf and noticed that these companies provide the president with a platform to spread “lies and conspiracies.”
Other notable personalities such as Chelsea Handler, Judd Apatow, Monica Lewinsky and Lawrence O’Donnell shared the same sentiment and made their voices heard.
“We all need to put pressure and redistribute on @YouTube, @SusanWojcicki to stop the spread of misinformation,” Handler wrote, quoting Cohen’s tweet.
This is not the first time that the “Chicago Trial 7” star has spoken out against the outgoing president. Recently, the Golden Globe winner admitted that he decided to revive Borat because of Trump’s presidency.
In an interview with varietyCohen revealed that he saw a lot of threats to democracy under the Trump administration and thought it was the perfect time to resurrect the character.
“I feel that democracy is in danger. I felt that people’s lives were in danger and I felt compelled to finish the film, “Cohen was quoted as saying by Variety.
