Andrew Williams, a firefighter paramedic with the Sanford Fire Department, appeared in federal court on Tuesday and was released with a signature of $ 25,000, according to court documents.
The Sanford Fire Department started an investigation into Williams’ involvement after the photo was circulated online. Fire Chief Craig Radzak confirmed it was Williams in the photo, saying Williams had been on the department as a firefighter paramedic since October 2016.
As one of the conditions for bail, Williams must appear in all legal proceedings. In addition, he must not possess firearms, ammunition or dangerous weapons and must hand in his passport by Friday.
Florida federal court records show that Williams’s case is being transferred to the District of Columbia.
Under the terms and conditions, he may travel to DC as needed in court.
“The Capitol president and police encouraged despicable behavior,” Citro said, speaking out of court. Mr. Williams did not participate. In fact, you will note in the complaint that there are no allegations that Mr. Williams did any of those things. ”
The Sanford Fire Department has suspended its investigation pending the conclusion of the federal investigation, its statement said.
“We hold the men and women in this department to the highest standards,” Chief Radzak said in the statement. “I regret that the actions of one person have tarnished the hard work and dedication that the rest of the department puts in every day.”
