The Jets approached their first finalist.
The team brings in Robert Saleh, the 49ers’ defensive coordinator for a second interview on Tuesday, according to the NFL Network. The Jets spoke virtually to Saleh on Friday. Now, he will meet in person with Jets Brass in Florham Park, while the team narrows their search.
It is known that the Jets have interviewed nine candidates so far. Now it enters the next phase, where they will bring some finalists for meetings in person. I can’t interview in person with someone who is still in the playoffs: Bill Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll, Rams Defensive Coordinator Brandon Staley, Saints Assistant Coach Aaron Glenn, and Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy are all candidates with games this weekend.
Saleh, 41, is a popular coach in this employment cycle. He interviewed the Lions, Jaguars, Falcons and Chargers in addition to the Jets. He is seen by some as a top candidate in Detroit.
